Top Tools a Data Center tech should have
Anyone who works in a data center needs the following tools. Some are essential, and some make their life easier. We all want work to be easier, right? These are just five tools I think everyone who visits a data-center or other similar place should have. These are some tools you wish you had after driving two hours to a site.
HeadLamp
Having your hands free while trying to look in the back of a dark rack is essential. My friends at Tower1 have a great selection, and these are high-quality. Don’t forget Batteries. I prefer rechargeable ones.

ToolBag
You don’t want everything in your laptop bag. Having a “Go bag” that you grab for trips takes forgetting items. The Amazon Basics toolbag is cheap and durable.

Extra pair of hands in the form of seteup.exe3
When racking gear the setup.exe 3 tool can save you time and effort.

Rack Studs
We all know network technicians are studs. Get something to show you are (and save those hands). Rack Studs replaces those old sharp cage nuts.

A good knife
I like a plain old good knife. If you carry a Leatherman or similar multi-tool, that’s great. I prefer something that I can use to cut open boxes, plastic, etc., in an instant. My Everyday Carry knife is a Zero Tolerance 0350TS. They have a Lifetime warranty.
