A New Way to Subscribe: Choose Your Topics with Jetpack

I’ve consolidated email subscriptions for Packets DownRange and the j2sw blog into Jetpack. Noptin and Subscribe to Category are now retired, and all signup forms on this site use Jetpack.

You can choose the topics you want in your inbox—including Packets Down Newsletter only—and manage your email preferences from one place.

How to sign up

1. Open the subscription page, or use the Subscribe to Blog form near the top of the sidebar.
2. Enter your email address and click Subscribe.
3. If Jetpack displays a category chooser, select your topics and click Confirm selection.
4. Check your inbox and complete the confirmation Jetpack sends you. Check your spam or junk folder if it does not arrive.

If your signup form does not display a category chooser, you can choose your topics afterward using Manage Subscription in a Jetpack email.

Want just Packets Down Newsletter?

Keep Packets Down Newsletter selected and turn off the other categories. If you also want networking articles, reviews, or other updates, leave those topics selected too. Choose all topics if you want every blog update.

Change your topics or email frequency

Click Manage Subscription at the bottom of a Jetpack email to review your settings. If you use WordPress.com, you can also open Reader → Manage subscriptions and select this blog.

Turn categories on or off to choose what you receive. Your category choices are separate from delivery frequency: use the subscription settings to choose instant updates, a daily digest, or a weekly digest. You can unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any subscription email.

Already subscribed?

If you already receive this blog through Jetpack, you do not need to sign up again. Your existing subscription and preferences were preserved.

I reviewed the old Noptin list and migrated eligible confirmed newsletter readers into Jetpack’s Packets Down Newsletter category. Unsubscribed, pending, and unconfirmed records were not imported, and some addresses could not be migrated.

Previously subscribed to the weekly digest? That migration is still on hold while I work on preserving weekly delivery. I have not switched those held subscriptions to instant post emails. You can subscribe directly through Jetpack and choose weekly delivery yourself if you prefer.

If you are unsure whether your old subscription carried over, use the same email address to check your Jetpack subscription settings. If you have no active subscription, sign up through the form and complete confirmation.
