J2 Networks joins MANRS, the Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security initiative, reinforcing our commitment to a more secure Internet. MANRS is a global initiative that helps reduce common Internet routing threats through practical actions and cooperation among network operators. Joining this community reinforces our commitment to responsible network operations and a more resilient Internet.
Why Routing Security Matters
The Internet is a network of networks. To move traffic between them, operators exchange routing information that tells traffic where to go. Incorrect or malicious routing announcements can disrupt connectivity or send traffic to unintended destinations. Because networks are interconnected, a routing problem in one organization can affect others far beyond its own customers.
Improving routing security takes cooperation. Each operator has a role in protecting the infrastructure we all depend on.
What MANRS Participation Means
The MANRS framework for network operators focuses on four areas:
- Filtering: Checking routing announcements to help prevent incorrect information from spreading.
- Anti-spoofing: Applying measures to prevent traffic from using forged source IP addresses.
- Coordination: Maintaining accessible, current contact information so operators can respond to problems together.
- Global validation: Publishing routing information that allows other networks to validate announcements.
These practices help operators address risks that cross network boundaries and support more reliable Internet connectivity.
J2 Networks Joins MANRS: Our Commitment
At J2 Networks, we believe good network operations include responsibility to the wider Internet. Our participation in MANRS reflects that commitment and connects us with a community working toward the same goal.
Routing security is ongoing work. We look forward to collaborating with other participants, continuing to improve our practices, and supporting efforts to make the Internet more secure and resilient.
Thank you to the MANRS team for welcoming us to the initiative.
